These lessons are included in our Engineering Unit Study.

Language Arts Module 1: "The Bridge Builder"

- Read a poem and circle the words that rhyme
- Match rhyming words on your rhyming gears (includes 3 levels of difficulty)
- Complete a rhyming gear for the word "engineer"
- Write a rhyming poem about an engineer
Language Arts Module 4: New Words
- Learn how new words become part of the English language (and about how words are removed)
- Watch a video about lexicography and why it's important to make up new words
- Make new words and practice compounding with your word maker
- Define a new word of your inventing
- Practice reduplication
- Convert words from nouns to verbs, then use the verbs in a sentence
- Write a silly story with your new words
Guided Writing Project: Choose from a selection of possible topics, then follow along with the writing templates and prompts to create a polished piece of writing.
- Module 1: Plan- choose a topic, ask questions, find sources
- Module 2: Research and Outline- answer questions, create your thesis statement, and outline your paper
- Module 3: Write your first draft
- Module 4: Revise, proofread, rewrite, and publish
